Stock cooler vs Cooler Master Hyper 212
I recently built a new PC for myself. I had written an article about it too where I used the Cooler Master’s Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition CPU Air cooler.
Unfortunately the cooler master started making annoying rattling sounds after a few days…
So, I replaced it with the stock cooler (Wraith Prism) that came along with the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor.
I ran a simple CPU-Z stress test (for a few min.) to get an idea of how they did as far as temperatures and noise levels are concerned.
As you can see in the above screenshots, with the Cooler Master, the CPU was running at a slightly lower temperature (core temperature of 75 deg. vs. 78).
You can also see the difference in RPMs- the stock cooler runs about 1.5x compared to the Cooler Master cooler. I noticed the same trend when the CPU is idling, i.e. the Cooler Master runs at around 1300 RPM while the stock cooler runs at 2000 RPM.
And this also explains the difference in noise levels…I did not measure the noise levels, but I felt that the Wraith Prism was noticeably louder compared to the Cooler Master Hyper 212.
